What is your role at Incu?
My official title is Director but my role in the company is to make sure the business runs smoothly and to brainstorm ideas with Vini about what's next. Vini and I are very lucky in that we complement each other's skillsets so there's very little overlap. He's in charge of the creative side and I'm in charge of the business side.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and life before Incu.
I think if I wrote a history about myself it would probably be exactly the same as Vini's answer so I'll let him answer that. All the twins I've ever met are either like Vini and I (joined at the hip) or are exact opposites. Luckily for us we get along very well. Incu has been such a big part of my life that it's hard to think that far back to before it all began but I first started my career in the IT industry doing sales and strategy consulting. I learnt a lot during those few years including the fact that I needed to get out of corporate life. Vini came up with the idea of starting Incu and I've never looked back since.

What are you doing whilst staying at home?
Like many parents, a lot of time has been spent trying to navigate my kid's new world of distance learning. One thing that I have been trying to improve on is my cooking and I've been saving all these Youtube videos of Chinese recipes that my Mum used to cook for us. It's been great showing off to her on FaceTime that I can actually cook some of these dishes! One thing that has surprised me during this time is that I've been jogging! My older kid has been on my case saying that I'm unfit so we've actually gone for jogs which I definitely wouldn't been doing normally.

What does your WFH situation look like?
I'm lucky in that I have fairly decent workspace at home so it hasn't been too bad getting things done.

Any favourite local restaurants you're supporting?
I've been cooking a lot but the one thing I've been supporting is my older brother's restaurant Nakano Darling who are selling frozen Gyozas and Chicken Karaage!

Do you have any Netflix recommendations for us?

  • Tiger King - Hard to describe but once you start you can't stop watching this.
  • Crash Landing on You - I've been told how addictive Korean Soap Operas are but I've never watched one till recently and you really do get hooked even though its so cheesy. I've never seen one man cry so much in my life.
  • The Blacklist - Season 7 -  I started Season 1 a long time ago and I think a lot of people have given up on this show but I just can't help it.
  • Anything Dave Chapelle.

What are you grateful for right now?
I'm grateful that my kids and family are safe and healthy at home.

Lastly, what are some of your current favourite pieces available at Incu?
My selections are based around the situation that we find ourselves in now and having clothes that are relaxed and classic. Also each selection has a different meaning to me personally like the Saturdays tee is a reprint of their original collection that came out over 10 years ago, the Gramicci pants reminds of when I discovered the brand in a small shop in Tokyo and the Reeboks remind me of what I wore back in the 80s! Usually its music but its nice to have clothes that take you back to a particular moment in time. (See the rest of Brian's Wishlist here)
