Long — Assistant Store Manager, Chadstone
Incu Staff
April 18, 2020

Staying positive and optimistic with a sense of humour is one of my life mantras. Seeing the lighter side to life will always guarantee the best outcome for anything.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I work at the Incu Chadstone store as part of the management team. I’ve had an interest in the creative field ever since I was young and knew I would always be involved with fashion or design. I studied communication design, which opened many doors and gave me exposure to the multifaceted design industry. This allowed me to intern at multiple design publishers, work in the interior styling industry (I LOVE furniture) & eventually find myself back in fashion.

Have you found yourself doing something that you normally wouldn’t?
I’ve started playing keyboard with my housemate who plays the flute so by the end of this quarantine period hopefully you can catch me on triple J Unearthed or maybe Top 100 next year...

Being home I find great comfort in re-arranging the spaces I’m always in, shifting the furniture around, decluttering, repotting plants and making the room Feng Shui friendly. You’ll be surprised how satisfying and recharging a new environment can be for the mind and soul.

What are you doing whilst staying at home?
I’ve been really enjoying the time spent outside in the garden, burning incense, putting some music on in the sun and tending to all my plants.

One of my favourite things to do is propagating my plants and expanding the green family! I thought I would share how I’ve been propagating my Ivys at home:

Long’s Plant Guide - How to Propagate a Ivy Plant:

All you need is:

    • a vessel, jar, vase
    • some water
    • a little bit of light (not direct) and you're good to go.

1. Grab yourself a cutting from a vine that has a bit of length to it and can afford a trim. Clip it underneath the leaf at a 45-degree angle.

2. Stick your cutting in a jar of water, using something clear so that you can watch the magic unfold. A great place to sit the cutting is on a window sill or anywhere with some filtered light. Change water every 2 weeks if possible.

3. It’s Alive! In several weeks you will notice small roots growing on the stems. Once the roots look strong pop the plant into some wet soil and a pretty pot and there you have it!
