In celebration of our coming of age, we’ve enlisted our mates over at Gelato Messina to create 5 unique cream flavours developed by some of our favourite brands. We’ve got Patagonia, State of Escape, Paloma Wool, Rag & Bone and Café Kitsuné stepping up to the plate.
Next up in our 18th Birthday Series is longtime friends of Incu – Kitsuné – a French-Japanese record label (Kitsuné Musique), fashion brand (Maison Kitsuné) and specialty coffee retailer (Café Kitsuné), created in 2002 by Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki.
For their Incu x Messina special flavour, they’ve created ‘Tea-ramisu’ – a Japanese matcha gelato layered with Café Kitsuné coffee-soaked tiramisu biscuits. Read below as we chat with Gildas Loaëc, co-founder Café Kitsuné, about this unique collaboration.
Café Kitsuné Presents: Tea-ramisu
Tell us about your unique flavour? What is the inspiration behind it?
For our Incu x Messina flavour profile, our desire was to create a flavour representing Café Kitsuné as its best: a fusion of Parisian and Tokyo, a mix between two of our signature specialty drinks. Our ‘Tea-ramisu’ combines a hearty matcha gelato made from Somage’s ‘Reserve Ceremonial Grade Japanese Matcha’ with biscuits soaked in our unique Café Kitsuné coffee blend, that features cherry and milk chocolate notes.
Tell us about the relationship the brand shares between Paris and Tokyo.
Kitsuné is by essence a Paris-meets-Tokyo brand. I’m French from Brittany, my partner and co-founder of Kitsuné, Masaya Kuroki, is Japanese and grew up in Paris. We founded Kitsuné in Paris in 2002, but it’s actually during a trip to Japan that we came up with the idea of launching a brand that would reflect every aspect of our Franco-Japanese Art de Vivre.
What do birthday’s mean to you as a brand, are they something that is to be celebrated?
Birthdays are meaningful for a brand as they are occasions to celebrate key important moments of your history with your fans all over the world and to thank them for their loyalty, love and support.
Please pass on a little Happy Birthday message to Incu…
We wish the happiest of birthdays to our long-time friends at Incu! We are very excited to celebrate this special moment with you. Happy 18th and cheers to many more years to come!
